Picking Ghana over Germany was a ‘right choice’ – Kevin Prince Boateng

Barcelona forward, Kevin Prince Boateng has defended his choice for playing for Ghana in the 2010 World Cup, saying it was “a very right choice”.

Boateng, who has Ghanaian and German parentage, switched his international allegiances to Ghana in time for the 2010 World Cup after persistent snubs by Germany.

The former Milan Star was eligible to play for Germany but saw there  was “long way to get into Löw’s plans” and opted to play for Ghana, his father’s country.

The German Ghanain says attitudinal issues was a obstacle for him to get to Germany’s set up and felt he should be at a place where he would be accepted by the people.

He says he never regrets picking the African country despite being suspended by the national team over the 2014 World Cup debacle.

“I did some things when I was young, of course, I’m not very proud of today. Although they are part of me, they were not very positive. In Germany, there are many “straight”, very correct, and they did not much like my behaviour. So I saw the really long way to get into Löw’s plans, so I said to myself,” he told Skysports Italia’s The Lord of Football show.

“They want me in Ghana and I want to play for the National team. I had never felt like Ghana before, and I thought that was a good possibility, both personally and mentally. To choose, I relied a lot on myself, on my feelings, because for my heart it was a choice that could be very right. And in the end I made a very right choice “.

Boateng,31, remains suspended from the Black Stars by the Executive Committee of the GFA for gross insubordination at the 2104 World Cup

Ghanaian fans went on to accuse him of riding on the back of the country to international fame at the World Cup.

But his recent move to Barcelona has triggered calls for his him to be invited back to the Black Stars
