Former Ashgold defender Hudu Yakubu set up Ocansey Mandela’s opener and scored a superb second in Tuesday’s win against Platinum.
Ocansey, a Ghanian-born Burkinabe, headed in a cross Yakubu in the 58th minute to open the scoring for the home team at the Stade du 28 Septembre in Conakry.
Hudu later added Horoya’s second for the day with a long-range strike in the 78 minutes after being set up by Sebe Baffour.
Five Ghanaians were part of Horoya’s 18-man squad for the epic encounter.
Ocansey and Yakubu were named in the starting line-up alongside countrymen Godfred Asante, Sebe Baffour Kyei and Brefo Mensah.
Former Hearts striker Patrick Razak came in 82nd minute to mark his CAF Champions League debut for the Guinean side as he replaced compatriot Ocansey.
Horoya have moved to second place after four rounds of matches with seven points in Group B, one point adrift leaders Esperance, who beat Orlando Pirates 2-0 at home.
