Former Accra Hearts of Oak star Bernard Don Bortey has signed a two years contract with Accra Great Olympics, the Division One side has announced.
The club has also signing the signing of veteran Roger Sackey, saying the duo are expected to bring their “rich experiences to bear on a relatively young Olympics Squad”,
“We have signed Don Bortey and Roger Sackey because they are professional players who are just returning from overseas to bring their rich experiences to bear on a relatively young Olympics Squad,” the statement read.
“The signing of the duo is premised on the legacy football philosophy of Olympics- blending the experienced with the youthful passionate boys to achieve wonders on the pitch.”
Bortey,37, had been hankering to return to active football, insisting he “still have a lot to offer.
In 2016 he declared he still has 10 years of competitive football in him before he retires.
He joined Accra Hearts of oak during the 2016 preseason GHALCA G6 competition with an eye of sealing a deal with the Phobians
But his aim of signing for his mother club was rejected by the technical men at the time.
Bortey, was an integral member of the triumphant Hearts of oak team that win the 2014 CAF Confederation cup.
He and former team mate Charles taylor were joint scorer in the 2002 league, scoring 18 goals each.
