CAUCUS OF DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE- GHANA(CDG-GH)

PRESS RELEASE 01. 01. 2019

DARK DAYS OF GHANA UNDER AKUFO ADDO`S “ALL DIE BE DIE”
THE REALITIES OF ALL DIE BE DIE AT AYAWASO WEST WUOGON

The Caucus for Democratic Governance, Ghana (CDG–GH), observing the brutal intimidations at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency by-election, can only warn that except there is a radical change in strategy, Ghana will not be safe in 2020.

With violent incidence, intimidation, indiscriminate shooting by armed vigilante forces, the President must be satisfied that his intended Police State under his philosophy of “all die be die” is on course. For 18 people to be injured, and a number of people to be assaulted, including Parliamentarians and Officials of NDC, because of a by-election, is sad and unacceptable.

The referendum during which “candidate Akufo Addo” won by 100% was a clear indication, he intended to win Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election through intimidation, violence and bloodshed. The willful bloodshed, the violence, the intimidations and the gross disrespect and lack of understanding of electoral rules and regulations, reflects the absolute incompetence of the EC Boss.

The miscalculated strategy of NPP was based on the voting pattern of Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency; where the schools and Universities mostly vote for NPP. Now that the schools and the universities in the constituency were on holidays, they had to find a way of disrupting the strong hold of NDC which is Bawaleshie. To do this they had to bring para- troopers, vigilante forces, special security forces with musk to torment and terrorize the voters. What an irresponsible government.

The CDG-GH condemns this cowardly acts vehemently, and insists that the perpetrators should be made to face the full rigors of the law. We also suggest that the entire election must be annuled. The CDG-GH would like to remind the President, that without the people he would not be President. Many dictators have come and gone,(Hitler, Idi Amin, Benito Mussolini…) and Nana Addo will also go.
