Chairman of former Neoplan Stars, Abbey Pobe has expressed disappointment in some football players he nurtured and were later ungrateful to him.
Neoplan Stars by the help of Abbey Pobe went from a divisional club through middle league and ultimately secured a place in the Premier. They were the talk of Kumasi , supplying Asante Kotoko with players. The team produced well poised players with the likes of Emmanuel Duah who was sold at $200,000 in 1991.
Abbey Pobe stated how he was able to produce many talents in Ghana and yet still his opinions in Football are rubbished. He gave account of Kumasi based radio presenter, Joe Laka who journeyed all the way to Konongo to bring Sulley Muntari to live with him, through the early stages of his career but he never accorded him the appreciation he deserved.
Abbey Pobe listed Anthony Yeboah as one of the players he suffered to push but was never acknowledged for it. He mentioned being thankful to God for using his football earnings in catering for his children who in turn took care of him to avoid being in a mess.
