A memorandum of understanding has been signed to seal the Youth and Employment Agency program for thousand athletes as confirmed by Charles Obeng Amofah , National Sports Authority Public relations officer on Twifoman FM. This is the first of its kind in the history of the Sports Industry.
The Youth and Employment Agency has assured a possible extension of the program if it’s within their means to do so. Charles Obeng has affirmed a total of forty four federations registered under the National Sports Authority , with an explanation on unregistered federations as unqualified for the YEA package hence its activities are for recreation.
The given slot is a thousand and half of it is being assigned to football where , the Ghana Football Association has chosen the women as beneficiaries. A hundred of the remaining slots will be accorded to para-sports whiles the other disciplines take the four hundred slots left.
The National Sports Authority is expecting a list of national recognized athletes from all federations , they will then scrutinize the list making sure it’s up to standard. Charles Obeng has disclosed the exclusion of working athletes whereas about twenty associations have been approved for the YEA package so far.
